reconciliation Strongs #2398
« on: January 10, 2012, 03:52:22 pm »
2Ch 29:24 And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded [that] the burnt offering and the sin offering [should be made] for all Israel.

Strong's H2398 - chata'

AV - sin 188, purify 11, cleanse 8, sinner 8, committed 6, offended 4, blame 2, done 2, fault 1, harm 1, loss 1, miss 1, offender 1, purge 1, reconciliation 1, sinful 1, trespass 1

to sin, miss, miss the way, go wrong, incur guilt, forfeit, purify from uncleanness

Definition does not fit so well with "purify from uncleanness"...Translators only used 2 time for "the act of purify" out of 238 times, 236 times it is used to describe sin or missing the mark...???

I was wrong! It's used 13 times to denote the act of purging purify... still doesn't make sense to me though!

Odd thought...sin = death.  Sin brought death into the world.

The Lord also said the life is in the blood.

So reconciliation restores life??
