Ok, this is an old 'un and I was fortunate to obtain my copy about ten years ago, but this is still one of the all time best books I've ever read!!!!!

Written by Lloyd C Douglas, and made into a film starring Richard Burton and Jean Simmons This book is a definite must read if you can get hold of a copy.

The plot starts off in Rome and follows a Roman tribune who through offending the emperor to be Caligula gets posted to Palestine at the time of Jesus Death, in fact gets given the Job of Crucifying Jesus. The crucifixion has a profound effect on  this Tribune and the story follows his subsequent battle and eventual conversion.

Although this is a piece of fiction it a very uplifting book, with a romance as well. As a teenager this book was so profound that I ended up doing a book review on it for school.

Beware though, you may end up crying at the end.........

I found an amazon link to the book: http://www.amazon.com/Robe-Lloyd-C-Douglas/dp/1444627910/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278017498&sr=8-1
